Medigap Plan F, also known as Medicare Supplement Plan F, is the most complete Medicare Supplement policy. It covers Medicare deductibles, copays, and coinsurance, so you don’t pay anything out-of-pocket. It has been the best selling for decades, however, Plan F is now only available to those who became eligible for Medicare prior to January 1, 2020. If you don’t meet that qualification, Plan G is the most comprehensive plan available to you and has been the second best selling plan in recent years.
When adding Medicare Supplement Plan F, you will have very thorough coverage.
Medigap Plan F fully covers your Part A hospital deductible and your Part B outpatient deductible. It also covers the 20% that Medicare Part B does not cover, and any Part B excess charges such as the standard excess 15% that doctors may charge for Part B services. You will pay nothing out-of-pocket! You may choose from any of the over 880,000 doctors in the United States. You also are not required to get a referral from your primary care physician in order to see a specialist! You are also guaranteed renewal, your coverage will never be canceled due to changes in your health or amount of claims filed.
The biggest reason why so many choose Medicare Supplement Plan F is so they never have to pay out-of-pocket again. It covers all gaps in Medicare Part A and B, including the 20% that Part B does not cover. You will never have to pay a deductible or copay!
Costs for Medicare will vary by zip code, gender, and tobacco use. For a woman turning 65, Medigap Plan F rates are typically $120-$140 per month. Costs will be higher for males than they are for females, and those who use tobacco products will have a higher rate than those that do not.
Medigap Plan F covers your deductible entirely.
Coverage on Plan F and Plan G are very similar. The difference is that on Plan G you will pay the Medicare Part B deductible. However, the premiums for Plan G can be much cheaper and end up saving you hundreds of dollars.
Plan F has been the most popular coverage plan for decades, but recently Plan G and N are gaining popularity thanks to their lower premiums. Then you just have to pay your deductible, and small copays if you have to use those services.
Medicare Plan F covers medications administered in a hospital or clinical setting, but Medicare Supplement coverage does not include retail prescriptions. You must enroll in Medicare Part D for coverage of prescription drug costs. Medicare Supplement coverage does not include dental, vision, or hearing coverage either.
Plan F is the most complete and comprehensive Medicare Supplement plan available. It is only available to those who were eligible for Medicare prior to January 1, 2020. With Plan F, you will never be charged for a covered service!
